...and darkness filled the skies. The seas churned and the ground shook. And as mankind gave up hope for the world, the heavens did open, and so the Longpiece did descend from upon high. Man was stricken with joy at the awesome sight, nearly blinded by its holy presence.

"Hear me", the Longpiece said, "for too long has mankind built its towers and its walls, casting aside caution and reverence in favor of pride." Man was humbled and lowered his gaze.

Again the Longpiece made its voice heard "With my power I do take down these walls of Man, so that he may again be at peace with his neighbor."

And thus the Longpiece brought the walls of the tower crashing to the ground. The sunlight shone again, and the earth and seas calmed.

And all was right.

this is cool considering i just went to the 'i am 8-bit' show last night.

fuzzy photo, take a picture outside.
:iconpogobeta:
Will do, but it's kind of a fuzzy painting, if you see it in person.

unfortunity i never will!

This is fantastic!
I especially love the story along with it.
I honestly would consider buying a print if you had any available.
Any chances of getting some sort of scan of this, or would that be impossible?
:iconpogobeta:
Because of the size, I dunno if scanning it is feasible. I've never seen a scanner large enough to accommodate anything 5 feet long. There's the theoretical possibility of scanning it in parts and then assembling it digitally, but I'm terrible at doing that with any degree of accuracy. I can't even get a decent/straight photo to display in the gallery, let alone one that's good enough to sell as reproductions.

Due to the positive response I've gotten from pretty much everyone who's seen it, I'm considering doing a bunch of smaller-format copies and variations of this painting (Different backgrounds, etc), small enough that they don't take as long to make, and they can be distributed and transported more easily. They'd also be less expensive.

Of course, there's always the possibility that I could make more of the same size, but those would end up being sold for a pretty high amount (like, probably several hundred USD), since the canvas stretching frame was enough of a pain to put together.

However, in the event that these (paintings or prints) do become available, I'll post accordingly (probably in my userpage as well as editing the description of the 'deviation itself)
